  • Change — The master plan respects the need for mixed-use development and long term airport operations
  • Development Diversity — The design includes a large variety of development types, all planned to work cohesively within core urban spaces and residential areas alike
  • Community — A range of single-family and multi-family residential home developments are closely located to amenities throughout the master plan

High Point is an 1,800-acre mixed-use, master-planned community adjacent to Denver International Airport in both Aurora and Denver, Colorado.  The community will ultimately include over 12 million square feet of commercial development and 3,000 residential units. Craig Karn has directed the master plan design for High Point since 2004, when the first concepts for the development were produced.  Since August of 2005, Consilium Design has been involved in the ongoing coordination with prospective builders and commercial developers, master plan and detailed development plan design, the development of individual neighborhoods, and open space design.

Consilium Design has also collaborated with the project development team on overall master plan refinements and the inclusion of large scale developments like the Gaylord Hotel.  The West End, a mixed-use neighborhood addition at Tower Road and 64th Avenue includes a broad range of multi-family and single-family residential home types, thoughtfully integrated with retail, restaurants, live/work units, hotels and professional offices in a dynamic, urban setting.

HIGH POINT MONUMENTATION

High Point Monumentation

The entrance monumentation at High Point is designed to create a significant entry beacon and gateway for the over 1800 acre mixed-use project.  The grand scale of the monumentation is in proportion with the overall scale of the development.  The materials selected give this project a unique identity.  All stone used is natural and indigenous to the Front Range of Colorado.  The stone will be carefully cut and installed to give the entry a refined look.  Furthermore, the inclusion of copper at both the primary and secondary entrance monuments will provide a unifying element.

The Powered by Prescient Apartments are a 2.7 acre multi-family development located in the heart of RidgeGate in Lone Tree, Colorado.

In this landscape plan, we focused on the pool/grilling amenity space on the third floor along with a strong streetscape focused design. We had to focus on creating a landscape design for the streetscape that played off the architecture of the building.

SANTA FE

TRAIL

Santa Fe Trail

  • History — Our aim was to celebrate the experience of travelers and settlers along the Santa Fe Trail
  • Ecology — The configured garden demonstrates a variety of ecosystems throughout the trail system
  • Culture — The implementation of the “Trail through time” celebrates gardens along the trail from early times to present

With attention to and reverence for history, ecology and culture, Consilium Design created a garden that features a range of native ecosystems as well as a “Trail Through Time” that celebrates the built Gardens of Santa Fe Trail residents from early times to the present day.

This project is the first phase in an extensive redevelopment of a former rail yard adjacent to downtown Raton, New Mexico and will form part of the extensive downtown revitalization project currently underway.

This 2.5-acre park in a new Main Street community celebrates the experience of travelers and settlers along the Santa Fe Trail who founded the city of Raton and neighboring communities.

FARM

Richards Farm

  • Privacy — With consideration for the community’s tranquility and privacy, we designed the neighborhood streets to discourage cut-through traffic
  • Connectivity — We also increased pedestrian connectivity which provides access to the Apex Recreation Center, a hub of activity for the neighborhood and greater community
  • History — The use of entry monuments, signage and fencing evoke the historic character of the site

Consilium Design’s mission for this project was to keep the community feel and design rooted in the history and heritage of the site itself.  Once a farm and ranch of two long-standing families in Arvada, it is now combined to create a 126-home community while embracing the rich history of the site.

With a mix of single-family and patio homes, the architecture of the community takes on the feel of nearby historical farms, accented with green roofs and stone walls adorning the entries.

RED HAWK RIDGE

ELEMENTARY

Red Hawk Ridge Elementary

  • Health and learning — We took particular care in expanding and enhancing opportunities for education and physical fitness through outdoor play areas and gathering spaces
  • Neighborhood Culture — We understand the importance of integration, so our goal was to improve the playground for both students and the surrounding neighborhood

Consilium Design partnered with Metropolitan School District leadership in a design response that meets the needs of a rapidly expanding school by making improvements to the existing outdoor play area on the campus.

This included the addition of synthetic turf to replace highly impacted and unmanageable play areas, improvements to accessibility, and the implementation of several shade structures for outdoor learning activities, play, and major outdoor school events.

Red Hawk Ridge Elementary is a successful school within the Cherry Creek School District.
